What is sustainable lawn care?
Sustainable lawn care is a philosophy that successful landscapes are ones that co-exist with nature, not fighting against it. We focus on balancing the soil and the overall health of your planting.
The benefits include: 1. Less water usage 2. More drought tolerance and more forgiving 3. Insect and disease pressure is less, chemicals damage from pest species is minimal 4. Less maintenance because of balanced fertility which cuts down on the excessive mowing and pruning 5. Environmental issues – Nitrogen and Phosphorus runoffs are a big modern concern. Our program uses a fraction of the n and p of conventional treatments 6. Aesthetics of landscapes – Natural products will outperform conventional treatments and will allow the plants and trees to perform at a high level which is visible 7. Less polluted water – Chemical compounds contained in fertilizers, wastes and soils. In controlled amounts, the nutrients are essential plant food. In excess, they can throw a rivers ecosystem off balance and cause outbreaks of algae that choke plants and fish 8. Safer on children and pets

Why Organic Lawn Care?
Organic lawn care and gardening begins with a commitment to the environment. Habitat fragmentation is occurring all over the United States, especially around cities, and even in farming communities. Discontinuous land use breaks up large blocks of habitat such as forests, grasslands and marshes. Subdivisions, roads and fences are being built as a fast rate. The survival of many plants and animals are threatened. Exotic plants have escaped into the wild, threatening native species. Introduced insects such as the imported fine ant have altered ecosystems by preying on native microbes, insects and the young of small animals. A more organic approach to landscape design and gardening is in order. It is no longer a fad.
Private residences and other developed properties hold a great potential for restoring quality, quantity, and richness of the plant and wildlife habitat that has been displaced. By maintaining a healthy habitat in our yards, we create healthier living. Plants in richly vegetated spaces absorb carbon dioxide and give off oxygen, thus renewing our air supply. Plant foliage captures dust and other pollutants, purifying the air we breathe. Vegetated areas aid in erosion and soil conservation. Plant roots hold soils in place, while plants impede water runoff.
A diverse landscape containing many species of plants not only supports an abundance of wildlife, it is also less prone to large scale devastation from insect pests or diseases.
